Zawar Haider Abidi holds a BSc (Hons) degree in War Studies, an MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies and an MBA majoring in marketing. He has been a visiting fellow at Henry L Stimsons Center Washington DC and has taught at the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad as visiting faculty. He has seven years’ experience in dealing with arms control and disarmament issues and has a special interest in strategic export controls. He has attended a number of international seminars, conferences and workshops relating to export controls.

Zawar Haider Abidi is a former military officer with twenty seven years of meritorious career to his credit in recognition of which he was awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) – Medal of distinction.
